Unicon's first con in the Annapolis Holiday Inn was tremendous.
It was (as usual) a very friendly con; in its time, Unicon was
one of the few conventions to give pros
not one but two free memberships. That gesture, which cost the
committee nothing, was always
greatly appreciated.
Don was on two panels: Saturday afternoon's "Critics and
Reviewers," and that evening's "I Am the World's Oldest
Young New Writer" starring Esther Friesner. Don wishes he
could remember the second panel, it sounds interesting.
The Unicon film program this year was an animation festival;
you haven't lived until you've been in a room with five hundred
sf fans watching "Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-Half Century."
Despite the break in tradition (this was the first odd-numbered Unicon since the first few), it was still a great con. If anything, Unicon had improved with age.
